Biltmore Blooms 2024: March 25 – May 23, 2024
Welcome spring at Biltmore, where over 100,000 flowers bloom across gardens fit for a Vanderbilt. During Biltmore Blooms, the estate’s annual garden party, you’ll find fields bedecked in orchids and spring bulbs in bloom, filling the air with sweet smells.
George Vanderbilt built his 250-room mountain home right here in Western North Carolina, bringing in Frederick Law Olmsted—the man behind New York's Central Park—to design the grounds. Biltmore Blooms is a celebration of that vision, honoring the natural sequence of spring blooms that Olmsted and a team of dedicated gardeners have nurtured over the years.
Join us from May through July, and take advantage of extended Friday evening hours to enjoy a leisurely walk through the gardens as the sun settles over the mountains.
Witch Hazel Starts the Show
As the spring season officially gets underway, the first Witch Hazels burst forth in stunning shades of red, yellow, and orange. Joining soon after, a sea of bright yellow daffodils brighten the Walled Garden. Planted around the daffodils are pansies of every color you can imagine. The contrast provides a gorgeous feast for the eyes.
Opulent Orchids on Display
Visitors to the estate can experience nearly 1,000 orchids in full bloom, showing off their tropical colors and exotic look. Check out the Conservatory to see a wide variety of species, but also take a look inside the historic Biltmore House.
Tulips & Azaleas Take Center Stage
As the season progresses, nearly 80,000 tulips transform the four-acre Walled Garden into a can't-miss floral paradise. The tulips bloom in purple, pink, white, and orange and last 3-4 weeks before making way for later season blooms in the shrub and azalea gardens.
From here, native azalea species, rhododendron, roses, and other vibrant annuals and perennials burst into bloom.
